How to move email messages to different mailboxes on your iPhone and iPad

How to move messages on your iPhone and iPad

The iPhone and iPad are great for quickly handling email. However, if something is important, or requires a lengthy reply, or you can only get to it later, or you simply want to keep your inbox close to zero, the iPhone and iPad are also great for quickly sorting and filing your mail into well organized mailboxes.

How to move individual mail messages to different mailboxes on your iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch the Mail app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap into the Inbox that contains the messages you'd like to move. You can also go into All Inboxes if that's easier.
  3. Tap on the message that you'd like to move in order to open it.
  4. Tap on the Move icon in the lower menu. It is the 2nd one from the left.
  5. Now tap on the mailbox you'd like to move the message to.

How to move multiple messages to different mailboxes on your iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch the Mail app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap into the Inbox that contains the messages you'd like to move. You can also go into All Inboxes if that's easier.
  3. Once you're in an inbox, tap on the Edit button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  4. Tap on the messages you'd like to move to a different mailbox so they are highlighted.
  5. Now tap on the Move button in the bottom menu.
  6. Choose the mailbox you'd like to move the selected messages to and they'll automatically be moved there.

It's worth noting that some account types allow for folder mapping which means you can move messages from one account to a different account. When moving a message you can go back to the account list and choose a different account. If your email service provider doesn't support this, you'll just receive an error message stating the messages can't be moved.

How young star and planets grow simultaneously

Jan. 2, 2013 ? Astronomers have used the ALMA telescope to get their first glimpse of a fascinating stage of star formation in which planets forming around a young star are helping the star itself continue to grow, resolving a longstanding mystery. The young system, about 450 light-years from Earth, is revealing its complex gravitational dance to the ever-sharpening vision of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), scheduled for completion this year.

As young stars gather material from their surrounding clouds of gas and dust, the incoming material forms a flat, spinning disk around the star. Planets begin as small clumps within that disk that, through their gravitational pull, add to their mass. As the planets pull in more material, they also leave a wake in their trail that clears out a gap in the disk. Such gaps have been observed in the dust disks surrounding a number of still-forming solar systems.

During this process, the star also continues to grow more massive, leading to the question of how material can get through the gap cleared by the protoplanets and onto the star.

"This has been a bit of a mystery, but now we have found a process that allows the star to continue to grow despite the gap," said Simon Casassus, of the University of Chile and the Millennium Nucleus for Protoplanetary Disks, who led an international research team.

First, the scientists found that the gap is not empty, but is filled by thin, tenuous gas, as shown by ALMA detection of carbon monoxide. "Whereas dust is severely depleted within the gap, some residual gas remains," said Gerrit van der Plas, of the University of Chile. "This agrees with predictions for gap clearing by a planetary-mass body," he added.

Next, ALMA revealed streamers of dense gas (HCO+, or Formyl ion) crossing through the gap, bringing material from the outer portion of the disk, near and onto the planets, and into the disk's inner portion, closer to the star than where planets probably are forming. These streamers, the scientists say, probably are caused by the gravitational pull of the young planets.

"The most natural interpretation for the flows seen by ALMA is that the putative protoplanets are pulling streams of gas inward toward them that are channelled by their gravity. Much of the gas then overshoots the planets and continues inward to the portion of the disk close to the star, where it can eventually fall onto the star itself," Casassus said.

In the system Casassus and his colleagues studied, called HD 142527, they calculated that, without the streamers, the inner portion of the disk would be depleted in less than a year. However, the gas delivered by the streamers is sufficient to maintain the inner disk and the star's observed rate of mass growth.

"Computer simulations indicated that such a process should be happening, and now we've found it," said Sebastian Perez of the University of Chile.

The planets, the scientists said, should be embedded in the dense streams of infalling gas, and likely are several times more massive than Jupiter, the largest planet in our Solar System. The dense gas in the streamers, however, obscures the planets from direct observation.

In the HD 142527 system, the inner disk extends outward from the young star about 10 times the distance from the Sun to Earth, or just past the orbit of Saturn. The gap extends from there to more than 140 times the Sun-Earth distance. The planets, the scientists said, should lie within the gap, at a distance of about 90 times the Sun-Earth distance.

"The new capabilities provided by ALMA made this work possible, but this is just the beginning," Casassus said of the international millimeter-wave observatory still under construction in northern Chile.

The research team reported their findings in the scientific journal Nature.

Connecticut attorney general says Newtown legal claim misguided

(Reuters) - A $100 million claim filed against the state of Connecticut in the wake of a school shooting that left 20 children and six adults dead two weeks ago is misguided, Connecticut's attorney general said in a statement on Monday.

Last week, a New Haven-based attorney filed an intention to sue the state on behalf of a 6-year-old survivor of the December 14 attack - the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.

Under Connecticut law, any claim against the state must be approved by the state claims commissioner before it can move forward. The state attorney general serves as the state's defense attorney.

"Our hearts go out to this family, and to all the children and families affected by the Newtown shootings," Attorney General George Jepsen said in a statement. "They deserve a thoughtful and deliberate examination of the causes of this tragedy and of the appropriate public policy responses."

A public policy response by the U.S. Congress and the Connecticut state legislature would be "more appropriate" than legal action, said a spokeswoman for Jepsen.

"Although the investigation is still under way, we are aware of no facts or legal theory under which the State of Connecticut should be liable for causing the harms inflicted at Sandy Hook Elementary School," the statement added.

Connecticut attorney Irv Pinsky said he filed a claim on Thursday with state Claims Commissioner J. Paul Vance Jr.

Vance said on Monday that he has not yet seen the claim and could not comment on a pending legal matter.

The unidentified client, referred to as Jill Doe, heard "cursing, screaming, and shooting" over the school intercom when the gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School, according to the claim.

Pinsky's claim said that the state Board of Education, state Department of Education and state education commissioner had failed to take appropriate steps to protect children from "foreseeable harm" and had failed to provide a "safe school setting."

"We all know it's going to happen again," Pinsky said last week. "Society has to take action."

Pinsky said he was approached by the child's parents within a week of the shooting. He did not immediately respond to a request for a comment on Monday.

The shooting, in which Lanza took his own life, has prompted extensive debate about gun control and the suggestion by the National Rifle Association that schools be patrolled by armed guards. Police have said the gunman killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, at their home in Newtown before going to the school about 5 miles away.

Earlier on Monday, a spokesman for Adam Lanza's father, Peter Lanza, said the family had claimed the gunman's body from the state medical examiner's office. Plans for Lanza's burial were not disclosed.

PCB may ban players from participating in BPL ? Cricket News Update

Reacting furiously to Bangladesh?s decision to not tour Pakistan due to security concerns, the Pakistan Cricket Board has warned that it may now bar national players from participating in the second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), commencing on January 17, 2013.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board management last month agreed in principle to send its national team to Pakistan for a short limited-overs series ? comprising an ODI and a T20I ? in mid January, albeit pending security clearance. However, the BCB president Nazmul Hassan, on Monday revealed that they were mulling over postponing the proposed itinerary due to security reasons.

Expressing annoyance at the BCB?s decision to put the proposed trip of Pakistan on hold for a second time in nine months, the PCB said that the move has affected the relationships between the two cricket boards, adding that the country will reconsider its bilateral ties with Bangladesh.

The most immediate consequence of this breakdown of relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be felt at season two of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

"For the 2013 edition of the BPL, we have to see the commitments and engagements of our players before releasing them for the tournament. To associate the release the Pakistani players with Bangladesh tour to Pakistan does not hold any merit," read a statement released by the PCB on Monday.

The PCB had reportedly used the upcoming BPL as a bargaining chip to convince their Bangladesh counterparts to play a short series in Pakistan. The Pakistan board had not issued No Objection Certificate (NOCs) to their players to play in the T20 league, as they were waiting for an official announcement from the BCB, confirming the proposed the itinerary at the former?s backyard.

Several Pakistan players were however bought at the T20 league's player auction on December 20. The prominent ones among them included Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz?and Mohammad Sami.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf also reacted strongly to the BCB?s decision and said that his board will take a principled stand on the BPL, adding that they would not sacrifice their interests for those who do not honour their words.

"We will take a principled stance on the BPL," Ashraf said. "But one thing is sure: our players might not be free as we are making our own arrangements from next year."

US, Europe hope the new year brings better times

NEW YORK (AP) ? From the glittering New Year's ball dropping in Times Square to joyous fireworks in London and cheers in a once-isolated Asian country, the world did its best to ring in 2013 with hope for renewal after a year of economic uncertainty, searing violence and natural disasters.

"With all the sadness in the country, we're looking for some good changes in 2013," Laura Concannon, of Hingham, Mass., said as she, her husband, Kevin, and his parents joined hundreds of thousands of revelers lined up for blocks through bustling Times Square on Monday.

Yvonne Gomez, 53, a physician from Grand Forks, N.D., glowed as she and her husband, 63-year-old potato farmer Greg Halverson, took in the festivities in New York.

"I couldn't begin the new year in a more beautiful way," she said. "I married him two weeks ago and here we are in the middle of Times Square celebrating the new year ? two widowers who found each other."

Revelers with New Year's hats and sunglasses boasting "2013" packed the streets in the 35-degree cold to count down the first ball drop in decades without Dick Clark, who died in April and was honored with his name printed on pieces of confetti and on one of the crystal panels on the Times Square ball.

Matias Dellanno, 37, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, stood in the middle of the square with his wife and 3-year-old son, beaming with joy as his eyes caught the multicolored lighting illuminating the square just before midnight.

"I feel a completely new hope for 2013," he said. "It can't be any worse than last year, when my business lost clients. It was a rough year for everyone. The new year has to be better!"

Security in Times Square was tight, with a mass of uniformed police and plainclothes officers assigned to blend into the crowd. With police Commissioner Raymond Kelly proclaiming that Times Square would be the "safest place in the world on New Year's Eve," officers used barriers to prevent overcrowding and checkpoints to inspect vehicles, enforce a ban on alcohol and check handbags.

Syracuse University student Taylor Nanz, 18, said she and a friend had been standing in Times Square since 1:20 p.m. Monday. They hadn't moved from their spot because "if you leave, you lose your place," she said, shivering behind an iron barricade with a clear view of One Times Square, the building where the crystal ball hovered.

"It's the first time - and the last time," she said.

Elsewhere, lavish fireworks displays lit up skylines in Sydney, Hong Kong and Shanghai. In the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai, multicolored fireworks danced early Tuesday up and down the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

In Rome, Pope Benedict XVI celebrated New Year's Eve with a vespers service in St. Peter's Basilica to give thanks for 2012 and look ahead to 2013. He said that despite all the death and injustice in the world, goodness prevails.

In Russia, spectators filled Moscow's iconic Red Square as fireworks exploded near the Kremlin. In Rio de Janeiro, revelers dressed head-to-toe in white as dictated by Brazilian new years' tradition flooded onto Copacabana beach for a concert.

Organizers said about 90,000 people gathered in a large field Yangon, Myanmar, for their first chance to do what much of the world does every Dec. 31 - watch a countdown. The reformist government that took office in 2011 in the country, long under military rule, threw its first public New Year's celebration in decades.

"We feel like we are in a different world," said Yu Thawda, a university student who went with three of her friends.

Parts of Europe held scaled-back festivities and street parties, the mood a bit restrained - if hopeful - for a 2013 that is projected to be a sixth straight year of recession amid Greece's worst economic crisis since World War II.

London, the often soggy British capital, was dry and clear, as the familiar chimes of the clock inside the Big Ben tower counted down the final seconds of 2012 and a dazzling display of fireworks lit the skies above Parliament Square. People cheered as the landmarks were bathed in the light of the display, which included streamers shot out of the London Eye wheel and blazing rockets launched from the banks of the River Thames.

Elsewhere, the atmosphere of celebration was muted with concern.

Hotels, clubs and other sites in New Delhi, the Indian capital, canceled festivities after the death of a rape victim on Saturday touched off days of mourning and reflection about women's safety.

In Times Square, some revelers checked their cellphones to keep up with news of lawmakers' tentative deal to skirt the fiscal cliff combination of expiring tax cuts and across-the-board spending cuts that threatened to reverberate globally. And the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn., and Superstorm Sandy mingled into the memories of 2012.

"This has been a very eventful year, on many levels," Denise Norris said as she and her husband, the Rev. Urie Norris, surveyed the crowd jamming Times Square for the countdown show with Ryan Seacrest as host.

Seacrest remembered Clark and his legacy, saying it was one that would be continued, and that Clark himself had told him, "Seacrest, the show must go on."

Elvis Rivera, of Manhattan, was taking photos in Times Square to capture the moment. He wasn't planning to ring in the new year there but went by to take pictures.

How did he feel about the end of 2012?

"Relieved," Rivera said, adding that there had been a death and job losses in his family this year.

The House Republicans? Primal Scream

158618189 Speaker John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on New Year?s Day, 89 senators finally passed a cobbled-together deal to avert the ?fiscal cliff.? The big House Republican meet-up, the one that could end America?s least favorite epic drama, would come at 1 p.m. Reporters welcomed 2013 with cheap champagne in the Capitol rotunda.

Then, shortly after noon, while Vice President Joe Biden was telling House Democrats to back the bill, Republicans were telling reporters to check their optimism. This was not the come-to-Jesus meeting to whip votes. This would be a ?conversation,? a Festivus-like airing of grievances. Some time later, the Republican conference would meet to talk about passing the bill. When would they vote on it? Ask again later.

The worries were justified. Inside the conference, as Speaker of the House John Boehner stayed neutral, member after member got up to denounce the deal. Majority Leader Eric Cantor warned that he did not support the bill in its current form. ?When the leader speaks,? said one Republican member, ?people listen more closely.? His defiance meant a lot more than some panicky Senate votes.

?We should not take a package put together by a bunch of octogenarians on New Year's Eve,? said Ohio Rep. Steve LaTourette inside the meeting. After he left the room, Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston joked that the deal passed only because ?it was way past those senators? bedtimes and they had blurry eyes when they were reading? it. House Republicans? Why, they were ?trying to fill in the gaps they might have missed.?

Time and again, Washington is shocked by two incredibly well-known facts about House Republicans. One: They believe all of that stuff they tell their conservative audiences, from the town halls to the Sean Hannity remote feed. They ran in 2010 promising never to raise taxes and to take a samurai sword to the budget. Whatever Paul Ryan asked them to cut, they voted to cut. Two: Most of these members come from safe districts where the only threats to re-election are primary challenges or death by natural causes.

And yet they?re never, ever allowed to govern the way they want. Assume that they end up caving and passing a fiscal cliff compromise?this compromise, which punts the mandatory sequestration cuts from defense and discretionary spending, which ends the payroll tax cut and restores a higher tax rate on income above $450,000. If that happens, then for the third time in two years they?ve punted on huge spending cuts and entitlement reform, told once again that they can get them later.

Thus, the hours-long primal scream. When he left the afternoon meeting, Alabama Rep. Spencer Bachus said that the deal would have to be amended to include more spending cuts, which meant that it would go back to the Senate?he?d be ?shocked? if it didn?t?which in turn meant that it would be doomed by Democrats who refused to entertain more changes. Wouldn?t that backfire on Republicans? ?Sooner or later,? said Bachus, ?you have to think that out-of-control spending is going to doom the markets.?

Bachus had to say that. In 2012, he held back a primary challenge from a Republican who?d run to his right, branding him a crooked compromiser. ?Never has the anger in this country been so great,? said Bachus in his victory speech. ?I can certainly identify with those who voted for someone else.?

You identify with it, or you lose. Consider the let-downs that conservatives had to put up with. In February 2011, they wanted to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government, with $100 billion in cuts. But the cuts, as presented to them by leadership, were based on old budget baselines. Some conservatives wanted to shut down the government. Their leaders convinced them to cave, because it would ruin their image. The savings earned after bitter negotiations were about half as big as promised.

Natural Support for a Healthy Pregnancy | Alternative, holistic ...

Written By Allison Prater |

Nurture is a new department for HB Magazine! Over the next 12 months, Allison Prater will cover topics ranging from prenatal health to simplicity parenting. We hope you enjoy the first installment of this exciting new series?

Pregnancy is one of the most amazing transformations that we as women get to experience. As someone who has been studying to be a doula, and is currently embarking on the adventure of motherhood herself, I thought I?d share some information on how to support a healthy, happy pregnancy. You should still consult with your care provider about any concerns you may have before undertaking any of these suggestions.

The first trimester of pregnancy is one of the most dramatic changes. All of the baby?s essential structures have been formed within about eight weeks. From here on out they continue to grow and develop. Because your body is working so hard to grow this new human being during this time, you may experience two of the most classic early pregnancy symptoms: nausea and fatigue.

Personally, I think the term ?morning sickness? is a misnomer, as many women? myself included?experience nausea and sensitivity to smells at all hours of the day and night. Some women may find it difficult to eat or to keep food down. This usually lasts through the 14th week of pregnancy. The nausea is a caused by increased levels of estrogen and progesterone, equivalent to taking 100 birth control pills a day! These hormone fluctuations cause the digestive system to slow down and become softer. This may cause some constipation as well.

Gentle exercise, such as a walk, yoga, or some other form of low impact fitness is a great way to get some relief. This helps reduce the levels of acid and carbon dioxide that build up in the blood; it can also help to combat fatigue and constipation. Eating small frequent meals is advisable, as having an empty stomach can make things worse. Eating some crackers or toast upon waking can help to absorb stomach acid and keep foods down. Emphasize complex carbohydrates and complete proteins in your diet. Sugary foods will cause your blood sugar levels to fluctuate dramatically, and oily foods are difficult to digest. Be sure to stay well hydrated. I found water with fresh lemon squeezed into it to be particularly helpful. Avoid sugar laden sodas, and drink mineral water if you are craving something fizzy. Vitamin B-6 can be helpful for relieving nausea and regulating blood sugar levels. Ginger is a celebrated anti-nausea herb, but should be taken in small doses, with caution. It is an emmenagogue (able to stimulate menstruation in large amounts), therefore it should be avoided altogether if you have a history of miscarriage. Chamomile and peppermint teas are safe, soothing herbs.

The second trimester of pregnancy is sometimes called, ?the honeymoon period.? By this time, you generally start to feel better; the nausea subsides and your energy returns. Though you are starting to show, you are still able to move around and sleep pretty comfortably. This is also when you start to feel your baby?s first movements. One common issue that many women experience during this stage is headaches. Sometimes this is because of stress, or lack of rest. Other times it is due to an iron or protein deficiency. Having a high-protein breakfast, and at least one more serving of a complete protein, daily can eliminate headaches. Adding calcium and magnesium to the diet is also helpful. This can be taken it in the form of a supplement and by making sure to include lots of leafy greens in your diet.

By the third trimester of pregnancy your baby is growing rapidly. This can put added strain on your muscles. Some women may start to experience aches and pains in the low back, upper back, shoulders and hips. They may find it difficult to sleep comfortably. Some say that the interrupted sleep one experiences while pregnant is preparing you for waking up during the night with your baby. Prenatal massage, yoga, pilates, dance and swimming are all beneficial to your body, helping you to maintain healthy alignment. Sitting on an inflatable exercise ball instead of chairs and couches can help keep your pelvis in a good position. A hot bath with epsom salts, and essential oils such as lavender, rosemary, lemon balm, or a combination of these, can help to soothe muscle aches. These oils can also be combined with carrier oils such as coconut or sweet almond oil to create relaxing massage oils. Paying attention and practicing good posture throughout the day is essential.

The baby is taking up an increased amount of space in your abdomen; it is normal to experience a feeling of fullness after eating a small amount of food, and sometimes even heartburn. Avoiding heavy, oily or spicy foods, especially at the evening meal, can reduce this symptom. Try to eat your last meal about two hours before bed, as lying down aggravates heartburn. Slippery elm lozenges can bring relief, and they are perfectly safe as long as they don?t contain other herbs such as coltsfoot or comfrey root.

There are many more common issues that take place during pregnancy, but to describe them in detail is beyond the scope of this article. Some of the best guidelines for a healthy, happy pregnancy are the simplest. Eat a balanced diet of whole, organic foods, being sure to include plenty of complete proteins, calcium, whole grains, and a variety of fruits and veggies. Choose an organic, food-based prenatal vitamin. DHA is another beneficial supplement. Drink lots of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Get regular exercise and rest when you need to. Most importantly, listen to your body. It will tell you when you need to eat, sleep, etc. Tuning into your body?s needs is teaching you to listen to your baby?s needs, preparing you for the amazing adventure that is motherhood.
