Eight Things The NFL Could Have Bought With The Money They Paid Roger Goodell

Posted February 15, 2013

That $29.49 million goes further than you might think

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hasn?t been too popular with the fans over the past few years. And 61 percent of the league?s players disapprove of his leadership according to an anonymous poll conducted last month.

But the owners must think he?s doing just fine.?They paid Goodell a salary of $29.49 million in 2011, nearly tripling his pay, according to a report published Friday by Sports Business Journal. That?s $10 million more than Drew Brees, the NFL?s highest paid player, earned over the same span.

Here are eight things the owners could have bought instead ? a list that may come in handy in the event of buyer?s remorse.

1.?A personal Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter

The twin-engine, heavy-lift helicopter, ideal for troop movement, would surely come in handy when the NFL expands to London.
