Personal Trainer Marketing for 2013 - PT Business Success

It is that peak time of the year where you should be marketing heavily to really tap into people who are wanting to make a difference to their health and fitness.

On my Facebook page last week there were a few questions asking what are the best personal training marketing strategies and what it working at the moment.

At the end of last year I was fortunate to come across a webinar which was run by a business visionary. Now what that means is that they are amazing at analyzing trends and can predict what will be huge in the world of business. Amazing guy! My mentor also said the same thing, so I know we are on the right track.

I had a call from a fitness owner this week who has been in the industry for years and they also said that they are lost with how to attract new clients as the fitness marketing has changed.

Absolutely and it keeps changing.

Here is a rundown of what you need to be doing in your personal training business in 2013.

1. You Tube is growing more rapidly than social media at the moment and you need to be there. Embrace video?s,? this is the year where you will notice a huge shift. Think about how you can incorporate video into your personal training business?

2.? There are 5 billion phones expected to be in peoples pockets this year and the majority of them are using their phones to web browse. You need to go mobile ? this is the fastest growing at the moment. Is your website mobile friendly? Just a simple tip that will make a big difference because if someone goes to your website on their phone or tablet and can not view your site then you have lost them.

3. Do you have a referral system in place? The majority of your clients still should be coming from referrals. Every week I chat to PT?s who still do not ask for referrals. The first thing I do for every single one of my new clients (besides implementing direct debit) is to ensure everyone of my clients has a consistent referral system in place. This makes a massive difference in generating new leads. Also makes your life easier :-)

4. Are you using your website to blog, do you know what keywords that people are searching for to find a personal trainer in your local area? You DO need to know this information. If you want to start showing up in searches then you need to be making consistent updates to your site otherwise Google thinks no one is home. You also need to have a word press website, plus you need to capture your traffic by having an opt in box. It is these simple additions to your website that will make a huge difference.

5. Are you embracing social media the right way, are you building relationships with people? I see way to many Facebook pages that post the same boring stuff. Vary your content up with testimonials, before and after pictures, tips, recipes, action photo?s and offers.? I also see way to many personal trainers that use their profiles as a business page. You need to ensure you have a fan page. This will give you many cool little tools to help grow you online presence plus the added bonus of this is that you won?t get shut down for violating the rules of Facebook.

6. I hear and see many personal trainers come out hard with marketing. They will get their blogs out weekly, newsletters out monthly, Facebook gets updated regularly then?.nothing! They stop?? Why? Lack of discipline!

If you want to be a successful personal trainer you need to be consistent. You will not get anywhere by stopping and starting the simple actions that will help you to generate leads. You can not just focus on Facebook, 1 marketing strategy will not help you become successful. It is a combination of at least 5 consistent marketing actions.

Quick recap!? You need to be online via websites, video and social media (I will be speaking about this more at Filex too) plus go offline and look at your referral system and building relationships with people in your local area. Notice the word consistency!

If you haven?t already make sure you are have popped in your details above to ensure you receive all the latest personal training business updates.
