ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) ?? The UCF women's basketball team secured its first win of the season Wednesday night with a 53-41 victory over North Florida at the UCF Arena.

Freshman Briahanna Jackson led the Knights (1-2) in scoring for the third-straight outing with a game-high 19 points while sophomore Meghan Keough contributed 10 points and junior Erika Jones grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Although both teams were slow to start, the Knights started to roll at the 10-minute mark when Jones' layup spurred the team on an 8-0 run as UCF held UNF (0-3) scoreless for more than five minutes.

Keough extended the run to 13-2 when she drained a three from the left wing, and Jackson sent UCF into the locker room with a 29-11 lead after sinking a three-pointer with four seconds to go. She finished the first half with 17 points, averaging a point for each minute of playing time.

UCF held the Ospreys to 16.7 percent from the field (5-of-30) in the first 20 minutes, and the team continued its momentum at the open of the second half when Sara Djassi connected from behind the arc for a 21-point lead.

UNF slowly chipped away at UCF's lead with a 15-4 run during the last 10 minute of the game to cut the deficit to 10 with 49 seconds remaining. But the Ospreys would get no closer as Gevenia Carter stole the ball and threw a long-range pass down the floor to a breaking Djassi for a layup to cap the game, 53-41.

UCF will have a quick turnaround when the team travels to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
